British company Andy Pad provide a little details about their new tablets with Android, which prepares for the market. We expect the sale to occur two devices - one with 8 GB memory and resistive touchscreen and the other with 16 GB memory and a capacitive display. According to EuroDroid, the first tablet will cost $ 200, while the second - $ 270. More expensive models will have two cameras - one on the front for video calls, which means you can maintain and operate 3G networks, although at that price is unlikely. So far, the company did not report what version of Android will work on the tablets.

Dell Streak 7 review

Those of you who are considering buying the Dell Streak 7 are welcome to read my small personal review.

After reading all the horrible reviews from various blogs i had to go to T-mobile and see if it is really THAT bad....
After using it for about 3 days now i can certainly say that it is NOT that bad at all and i actually enjoy this tablet more than i enjoyed the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

I'll start with the good:

1) It is FAST and smooth. It is certainly faster than the Galaxy Tab (i had the at&t version). it is very responsive to touch and switching tasks. there is really zero lag here.

2) Quadrant is around 1900+/- which is not bad out of the box.

3) seems like it is being capped at 60fps (improvement from old streak which was capped at 30fps)

4) The browser is absolutely smooth and fast, unlike the Galaxy Tab's browser which is laggy and was the Tab's main fault (even after the recent leaked firmwares from Samsung where they fixed some of the browser issues). Flash plays very smoothly on this device.

5) It plays XVID out of the box (i tested a normal xvid file, not any HD content and it plays it with the built in player)

6) The speakers are one of the best i have heard. they sound much better than the galaxy Tab.

7) I bought the dock for it from the T-Mobile store. it enables full screen mirroring via HDMI and it does it very well. The Galaxy Tab HDMI out is very disappointing as its HDMI out is extremely blurry and poor.

8) I can make phone calls with it using a Google Voice account + Spidroid from the market. i can receive and make calls using the wired headset no problem and it works well over 3g/4g and Wifi (I'll write a guide later on how to do it).

9) Build quality is more than satisfactory, i just wish i could remove the DELL logo from the back

10) The 5Mpx camera is fine, though not amazing.

11) The tablet is Quad Band WCDMA (which is extremely rare). once we can unlock it i am moving this to at&t

12) Unlike what other people say, it has 512MB RAM with 364MB user accessible (which is NORMAL).

13) Very good GPS. i get instant locks and it is super stable.

14) Overall it is very stable for me with 95 apps installed.

The bad and not so bad:

1) The screen resolution is only 800x480 but its NOT THAT BAD. I agree that higher resolution would look better though.

2) Viewing angle is not that great, but again this is a 7'' tablet. you would normally be looking straight at it (unlike a 10'' tablet).

3) The colors are not very deep, but its not that bad really.

4) Battery life is disappointing BUT i have isolated the cause. It is the 3G radio that is killing it. If you put the tab into airplane mode and only use wifi you will see great improvement. Let's hope Dell will release a new radio which is more battery friendly. Initially i thought it was the screen, but it seems to be the radio.

5) Some apps and games wont load properly or crash. This is due to Tegra as these games and apps needs to be updated to use arm v7 (i.e. gameloft games, splashtop remote, super stunt car). 90% of my apps work fine though.

6) T-Mobile absolutely refuses to unlock it for me. They say they have an exclusive deal with Dell on the tablet and that's why they are not offering an unlock code. Shame because it is Quad Band WCDMA!!!

7) Camera flash is a bit of a joke. it is very weak.

Overall i am happy with the Tablet and i enjoy it more than i enjoyed the Galaxy Tab mainly because of the excellent browser, system speed and full HDMI out which i use often.

The AOC Breeze will sport an LCD screen of the unorthodox 8" size and run Android 2.1. Except for the disappointing choice of OS version, the tablet is otherwise pretty decent for its $200 price, with 4GB of internal memory and microSD slot, as well as an USB port. The navigation buttons are old school physical, but some might even prefer them before capacitive, while the tablet itself weighs just 1.1 pounds.

The biggest mistery is the chipset, which AOC lists as made from the Chinese chipmaker Rockchip. We know Rockchip outed an Android-tailored CPU, capable of HD video, so we guess that's what the AOC Breeze tablet is rocking, and the promised battery life is six hours of video playback. Well, anything that keeps the costs down.

Vizio is well known to American consumers since its products in the field of consumer electronics are designed primarily for the U.S. market. This year, it seems it will make a serious effort to turn the market for mobile devices based on Android, as before at CES 2011 and presented a tablet phone platform from Google. Both devices are not yet final names and are called respectively VIA Tablet and VIA Phone. The tablet is 8 "and the phone - 4" screen by combining 1GHz processor currently unknown version of Android. Both devices have two cameras and specially designed interface will provide an opportunity to contact and other company products. Moreover Vizio TVs promises and Blu-ray players with built-in Google TV opportunities.

Interestingly, according to information the Wall Street Journal tablet and the phone has been designed for year and a half by a team of fewer than 10 people, among them was former employees of Nokia and other mobile manufacturers.

Android tablet from LG

Posted by D. S. | 8:38 AM

It’s the time of the year when all eyes in the technology sector get glued on Las Vegas for the newest version of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the lavish geek heaven that descends every January.

And unlike the previous events, which had been dominated by the black-and-silver army of flat-screen televisions, it seems that 2011 is shaping up as the year of the tablet.

More than 2,500 technology companies around the world are to participate in the Jan. 6 to 9 CES, claimed as the world’s largest consumer technology trade show that attracts around 126,600 visitors each year.

Tablets ― the portable, touch-screen computers like the Apple iPad, which now frequently appear on must-have gadgets lists ― will highlight the slew of next-generation products to be touted by technology companies in Las Vegas, according to companies here preparing for the exhibition.

These products will offer a glimpse of the future shaped and defined by Internet connectivity, with mobile Internet and cellular connections being introduced to a growing number of products, including mobile Internet devices, televisions, home appliances and cars, they said.

The CES will also serve as a crucial audition for Korean industry giants Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, which are desperate to pass the coolness test of global consumers after being upstaged by companies such as Apple in mobile devices in past years.

Although the Koreans have been maintaining an impressive share in their main markets of consumer electronics and mobile phones, they have yet to establish a reputation for ground-breaking products and technology.

So obviously, the gadgets Samsung and LG bring to the CES will be dissected and debated by observers, who had been criticizing the companies for their lack of creative input in products.

LG, the smaller of the two Korean electronics rivals, is certainly the one showing more urgency as it looks to recover from a miserable 2010 when it committed blunder-after-blunder in smartphones and other mobile Internet devices. The company has yet to provide a smartphone that could compete with the iPhone and BlackBerry, but has high hopes that the upcoming Optimus 2X will be its first.

The Optimus 2X, which could be reaching Korean and European consumers as early as January, is powered by a dual-core Tegra 2 processor running at 1 gigahertz (GHz), which LG says is the first configuration to be officially announced by any smartphone manufacturer. LG insists that the dual-core processor will deliver higher performance and play video and games smoother than devices powered with single-core chips. The phone will be released with Google Android 2.2, known as ``Froyo,’’ and will be upgradeable to Android 2.3, or ``Gingerbread.’’

LG will also unveil its first tablet computer, which will be powered by ``Honeycomb,’’ a version of the Android mobile operating system designed for tablets and ``netbooks,’’ or mini laptops, in Las Vegas, according to industry sources. The tablet will feature an 8.9-inch touch screen, bigger than Samsung’s 7-inch Galaxy Tab but smaller than Apple’s 10-inch iPad.

Samsung was one of the few companies other than Apple to generate noise in the tablet market this year, after selling more than 1.2 million of its Galaxy Tab devices. Samsung is expected to reveal the newer version of its Galaxy Tab at the CES, as it looks to exploit a global tablet market that will reach 50 million units in 2011, from 15 million this year, according to the estimations by technology research firm Gartner.

Other companies looking to unveil their tablets at CES include Microsoft, which is planning a slew of Windows-based devices built by manufacturing partners like Samsung and Dell, Hewlett Packard (HP) and Motorola.

Samsung currently has one of the world’s best selling Android phones in the Galaxy S and is likely to reveal the updated version of the phone in Las Vegas.

From DigiTimes comes another strange rumors of plans by Nokia. This time he again connected with the Finnish company and Android, although Nokia has repeatedly rejected such a possibility, but to us it seems unlikely. Details are not many. In the text dedicated to manufacturers of laptops, which raised the question of delay in their tablets with Android 3.0, saying that the reason for this is the priority that Google offers tablet manufacturers of smartphones. These names are Motorola, Samsung, LG, HTC in. .. Nokia. Edition continues that because computer manufacturers are under pressure because they can not complete their tablets, while sales of netbooks it diminished at the expense of tablets. The strategy of Google will lead to that computer companies will put their tablets later than those of mobile manufacturers, which could lead to new rearrangement of forces in this new market segment. DigiTimes claims that mobile companies are willing to put their products no earlier than mid-February, which coincides with the mobile congress and computer manufacturers will have to wait until the end of March.
